Role Summary
As a Project/Delivery Manager at Wipro Pune, you are responsible for end-to-end project operations and delivery governance. In practice this means planning and overseeing project schedules, budgets, and resources to meet client needs on time and under budget. The goal is to “manage delivery of a project driving operations and delivery governance” by aligning the right talent and processes for maximum efficiency. You will act as a liaison between clients and technical teams, ensuring clear communication of requirements and swift issue resolution. In short, you become the central point for project health – monitoring progress, quality, and compliance while anticipating risks.
Key Responsibilities
-
Project Planning & Delivery: Define project charters, timelines, budgets and staffing plans. Deploy the optimal delivery structure (after any transition phase) by evaluating budgets, costs, risks and staffing requirements. Ensure projects stay on track in terms of schedule, scope, quality and cost.
-
Compliance & Governance: Guarantee 100% compliance with client SLAs, security protocols and contractual obligations. This involves conducting audits (quality, ISO, customer audits) and taking corrective actions to prevent any non-compliance.
-
Quality Assurance: Work closely with QA teams to regularly audit the quality of deliverables and enforce quality-assurance standards. Initiate proactive reviews and issue-resolution processes.
-
Client Engagement: Lead regular customer connect sessions (meetings, visits or video conferences) and Management Review Meetings (MRMs). Use these forums to understand the client’s current/future needs and gather feedback, adjusting delivery plans as needed. You’ll also conduct Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs) to showcase performance and explore new opportunities.
-
Reporting & Metrics: Develop and maintain project dashboards and MIS reports (weekly/monthly/quarterly) to track performance. Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as customer satisfaction scores (PCSAT, brand score), SLA adherence, utilization and cost metric. Use data insights to drive decision-making and highlight any deviations.
-
Risk & Escalation Management: Identify potential risks early and execute mitigation plans. Ensure “ZERO surprise escalations” by promptly addressing any schedule, budget or quality deviations.
-
Process Improvement & Automation: Champion automation and operational excellence initiatives. Perform Pareto analysis on issues to identify automation opportunities, and work with Wipro’s Holmes (AI) team to implement hyper-automation or new tools. This continuous improvement mindset boosts delivery speed, quality and productivity.
-
Knowledge Management & Innovation: Promote knowledge sharing and innovation. Deploy Wipro’s internal knowledge management portal across projects to track trainings and best practices. Lead idea-generation campaigns to define better ways of working and implement value-added solutions.
-
Talent & Workforce Management: Ensure the right talent is available for each project. Collaborate with Workforce Management and the Talent Acquisition team to fulfill staffing needs. Anticipate skill requirements (including new technologies) and oversee training or hiring plans. Drive 100% compliance on upskilling and mandatory training programs.
-
Team Leadership: Build and mentor your project teams. Forecast hiring needs, onboard new members, and cultivate internal talent pools. Manage performance reviews, career development and succession planning. Lead engagement initiatives to maintain high team satisfaction and recognize top performers.
Skills and Qualifications
-
Experience: 8–10 years in IT project or portfolio management (often in consulting or large IT services) is typically required. Proven track record of managing complex projects end-to-end is essential.
-
Domain Knowledge: While Wipro considers candidates from various backgrounds, experience in banking/finance or tech services can be beneficial. Familiarity with Agile processes and stakeholder management is often expected.
-
Technical Tools: Proficiency with enterprise project tools like SAP and Atlassian Confluence (for documentation and tracking) is highly valued. Comfort with standard office/BI tools for reporting is also needed.
-
Quality & Security: Strong understanding of quality assurance processes (QA audits) and information security best practices is important. You will ensure all deliverables meet quality standards and comply with security protocols.
-
Soft Skills: Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills are a must. You should be adept at client liaison (conducting MRMs/QBRs), team leadership, and cross-functional collaboration.
-
Talent Management: Experience coordinating with recruitment or workforce teams is useful. You will work closely with Wipro’s Talent Acquisition group when planning hires.
-
Education: A bachelor’s degree in Engineering, IT or a related field is common. An MBA or PMP/Prince2 certification can be advantageous for project roles.
-
Other Qualities: Innovation-driven mindset, analytical skills, and a focus on continuous improvement align with Wipro’s culture of “reinvention”.
